The counselling process
I use a psychodynamic approach to counselling. This type of therapy is sometimes referred to as ‘psychotherapy lite’, in that it uses the same principles originated by Freud, Jung, Klein and the
other founders of the psychoanalytic approach, but the method requires only one 50-minute session each week, rather than several.
With this type of therapy, we explore how past relationships and experiences have affected how you react
to life’s challenges and problems and how you subsequently view yourself. By identifying and focusing on
the unconscious processes going on within, you will consciously begin to understand why you feel and
react the way you do. This knowledge will allow you to make real changes in your relationships and
your approach to life.
